Politics, Economics, Business, Creativity or Leadership. Schumpeter, Harari, Grant, Carnegie… What if you could get a hint of what great authors have to say, in 20 minutes? I am a 30-something Ph.D. and I’ll Make You Think Smart, one book at a time. Join the club!
How often do you read? Do you manage to cope with today’s flow of information? Do you feel lost? Are you lagging behind when people talk about politics, economics, technology or business?
Do feel like knowing what thinkers such as such as Schumpeter, Grant, Harari, Sinek or Gerber have to say would be nice? Could you use a little bit of help? I’ll Make You THINK SMART helps you to think outside the box, the easy way, one book at a time. It’s as simple as that!
There’s too much information and you can’t cope with it.
The daily, weekly, or monthly amount of fresh information is terrifying. Information is all over the place, on TV, in the newspapers, not to mention at the coffee machine!
But, what if your friends, colleagues or clients ask about this or that development and, too bad, you just have no clue? Sounds bad, right? Let’s face it. We’d all love to be thinking like the greatest thinkers. We all try to feel (not to say look) smarter. But this is no easy thing. How do I do? Where do I start? How long is that going to take? Oh, and… how expensive is that going to be?
The good news is, thinking smart isn’t that difficult and knowledge acquisition is easier than you think. Especially if you know where to look. In fact, my recipe is dead simple.
I’ll make you Think SMART.
I’ll Make You Think SMART is my think-outside-the-box blog. It is made for you around one simple idea: if you are looking for a way to satisfy your curiosity, learn new things and sharpen your mind in the blink of an eye, I’ll send you some food for thought once a month.
The website is full of very comprehensive book reviews and reading suggestions which will give you a taste of great books worth your time and money, in a variety of fields ranging from business to politics, economics, society, and culture more generally. In under 25 minutes each.
I’ve read all those books myself and found them relevant. Some I loved, some I enjoyed, others I didn’t particularly enjoy but nonetheless believe they have something to teach us.
In short, whether you are looking for inspiration before buying your next book or are interested in going straight to the important questions and arguments to sharpen your thinking, my book commentaries are a resource.
To THINK SMART, Read smart!
Books are cool!
Books are a great way to challenge yourself, learn new things, acquire new skills and new ways of thinking. By the same token, they are a fabulous way to improve your critical thinking skills. And they are a great way to show off a little bit. You know, who can resist using their last read to shine in society?
Most people don’t read smart.
Yet, I am always surprised to see how often people talk about books they’ve never read! Think about it, how many times have you heard someone say “oh, yeah, I’ve heard about that book, looked interesting but I haven’t read it…”. Actually, perhaps this is something you’re used to saying yourself?
In reality, though, most people simply don’t have enough time to read, even less to process and analyze what they read. They just don’t read smart. And that’s a shame because great books have so many things to teach us!
Problem.
There are two problems, though: choice and time! First, there are so many books on the market that finding the right one is usually a lottery. Second, even if you found the book of your dreams, in reality, most people never finish the (non-fiction) books they buy.
What that means, sadly, is that making the most of great books written by the best leaders in their field is not always as easy as it seems. The good news is, I got you covered!
Who am I?
My name is Antoine, and I am a 30-something Ph.D. who reads a lot.
I am a business strategy consultant and an entrepreneur. I have worked for international organizations (the UN), multinational companies and consulting firms. And I love the company of great books. From politics, economics and society, to technology, business and self-development, I read pretty much everything I find. And I’d like to share the knowledge I get from those books with you.
What’s in there for you?
I’ll Make You THINK SMART publishes book reviews and articles on a variety of topics ranging from politics to economics, from technology to society and business. And all my book reviews and articles are packed with value!
Are you looking for a brief overview of a book? Every book review starts with a brief comment and overview of what the book is about, how well it is written and all that.
Are you looking for a little bit more, such as thinking smart tips? The vast majority of my book reviews then provide you with the book in bullet points (the main themes, the main questions, the main conclusions) as well as a comprehensive comment on the main themes explored by the authors.
Looking for even more? How about some context? I’ll Make You THINK SMART provides contextual discussions and food for thought as part of most book reviews and commentaries. Perfect if you are looking for more books on the topic, or if you’re simply interested in getting the big picture!
And all that in under 25 minutes, once a month. That’s a hell of a way to start thinking smart in no time, isn’t it? Your turn now, read smart, think smart!
